One day at a time

Wow. What a busy, plus emotional, week I had. I am sorry I haven't been the best at updating this lately. I will try to do better. But now this particular post is going to be pretty long as I explain my last week..

So last Monday was my birthday and I had a great day. I went shopping with my mom which is now becoming a tradition every birthday. It's just better to shop with my mom for things instead of her possibly buying things I don't like. But the thing that is funny about it, is I'm not the biggest fan of shopping. So you'd think I wouldn't want to go on my birthday. But we do go. It just doesn't last long haha. After shopping, a wonderful friend of mine - Deedee - picked me up and took me to get pedicures. It was way nice of her and very fun to catch up and what not. Then my family took me to dinner followed by Joey picking me up and my friends surprising me with a birthday cake before we watched Harry Potter.

Wednesday a few of my friends and I went on a hike. Boy am I outta shape! It's ridiculous. But it was a lot of fun. I want to go on lots of hikes this summer.

Thursday was the day my best friend came home from his mission- Tobin Prince!

I had a pool party Saturday night. It was very stressful. First off, our heater is broken. So the pool hasn't been heating these past couple of weeks except from the sun. And we all know how much the sun has been out lately.. haha so the the temperature of the pool wasn't up to standard and I was stressin. And then of course the weather decides to be cloudy and windy. Great. A cold pool + cold weather = not so great pool party. But luckily things turned out ok. People did swim even if it wasn't for too long and it ended up being just a big social thing. Although my Olympus and Murray friends still don't socialize with each other. They just stick to their own groups haha but it was still a good successful party which was a relief.

Sunday- first off Happy Father's Day!! To all the dad's out there! But especially to my dad and grandpa! Two of the greatest men alive that I have to look up to! :) Secondly, it was Tobin's homecoming. He did a great job. But the most exciting part of the day was the down pour of rain complete with thunder and lightening. I was in heaven. haha

And that was my week.

It's a girl!

21 years ago a baby, weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces and 19 inches long, was born. A baby that the doctor was 99 % sure was a boy..

"It's a girl. I don't believe it. She's got lots of hair. She's so cute. I was so sure it was a boy." -Mother

"See, it was just a finger. Another cutey." -Father

"Surprise!" -Me. (That is what my screaming would have been interpreted as :) haha)

I am now legal!
Anyone want to go to a bar? It's time to party! ;)

Grandparents

I have the best Grandparents in the world! Seriously, they are my biggest role models. And yesterday we were able to throw a big party for them in honor of their
60th wedding anniversary!
It was wonderful. The whole family came together and we got to show our love for the two people who are the reason for the rest of us being here.

I love you Grandma and Grandpa!

And on the subject of Grandparents- today would've been my Grandma Milne's 77th birthday. She has been gone for almost four years now and it is still hard at times (like today and around Christmas time) but it's wonderful to know that families truly are eternal and I will get to see her again someday.

I love and miss you Grandma!

Battle of the Ms

I'm at a very awkward time in my life. It's the time where apparently I have to choose between the two M's: Marriage or Mission. If I'm not doing the first, then I must be doing the second. It's very annoying. I mean, I have thought about a mission but in all honesty it freaks me out. As you all should realize by now, I'm a big family person. It's being away from my family for that long that would be the hardest part for me. But I do know it would be a very good thing for me. So it's a toss up. But I have decided I am going to finish school and then depending where I'm at in life (or in other words- if I'm not close to the first M then that is when a mission could happen).
But anyways, another thing to add to the awkward age: as I've mentioned many times, all my guys friends are returning home from their missions. And I have been so happy. I have always been so much closer to guys than girls. I only have a few close girl friends compared to the many guy friends I have. And I don't mean that to sound cocky or whatever. I just think guys are easier to get along with. I am more myself around just guys. Girls are too judgmental. And you all know that's true. But I've seriously been having so much fun lately. I've practically become "one of the guys" which might not be the best thing.. because I have run into a slight problem.. Now that they are home from their missions, marriage is the next step for them. They are constantly talking about needing to meet girls. Datable girls. And I know I can't keep them to myself forever, but I just know that once they do find other girls, they will have no more need of my friendship. I'll be forgotten about. I'm just the friend- not girlfriend. I will be replaced by their future wives. The same thing happened in Logan with the few close guy friends I made up there. It's a crappy situation to be in.

Ok, so I know I'm probably being a little too extreme and dramatic. But it's something I really do worry about. I love all of my guy friends. They really are my best friends. And I would hate to lose their friendships once they get married. I do know a solution though. I'd need to marry one of them. But it's hard when I just see them as friends.. or when the only relationships I've had with two of them have ended and so chances with them again are probably zero.

Maybe I'll have to go on a mission once they've all gotten married and I have no friends.. haha

Oh! A little side note- my friend Joey came home just today from his mission! A bunch of us went to the airport to welcome him home. I debated about going due to last time when Soup didn't hug me back and it was a little embarrassing/awkward, but I'm pleased to report that Joey was way normal and hugged me back :) haha

(Sorry about the way out of date pictures. Especially since six guys shown are still gone.. I need to get better at taking pictures now that I have a nice new camera.)
