Life as of Late

Sorry for the lack of real posts lately. I've been a slacker. So I guess it's about time to give an update on what's been going on in my life the past couple of weeks..

School is going well. I really struggle with staying focused and on top of things. I guess it's just hard when I don't love accounting so my classes are pretty boring. But I don't want to switch majors and be in school longer than needed and I don't want to be a quitter. So for now I'm going to just try my hardest to really understand accounting and maybe I'll learn to love it. After all, I do like parts of it, even if those parts are small compared to everything else.

My favorite class has got to be my institute class. And I'm not just saying that to be some good little girl trying to win points with people. I really truly LOVE it! It is the one class that doesn't go long enough and that I never want to be over. I never find myself looking at the clock wondering when it'll be over because I'm bored and want to go home. The class is Gospel Doctrines and my teacher is sooo good at helping me understand things in a different way. He goes into depth of things I already know but adds a twist that I had never thought of before allowing things to make a whole lot more sense. He also adds a little bit of humor which always makes learning more interesting and fun. :)

I go home pretty much every weekend. I either have mowing to do or family stuff going on. But that's no surprise. I'm known for going home all the time. This last weekend I had a family reunion which was a lot of fun. I always love family reunions. It was a little sad because there weren't as many people there as last year and I was actually able to enjoy myself this year. Last year I had chubby cheeks and was in pain. But oh well. The other sad part about the weekend is that my two closest cousins and I realized this reunion was the last family thing that we'd all be together and single. My cousin Stacey is going on a mission in December and my cousin Camille will most likely get married during that 18 months. Kinda makes me think what I should/will be doing in that time.. but obviously aside from those two points, I had a blast! No matter which family members are present, I always have a good time.

Boys are pretty much non-existent in my life right now which I'm fine with. (Meaning boys with potential dating material). I've gone on one date since being up here and was bored out of my mind. Funny thing is, I don't think my date nor the couple we doubled with had any idea. I'm pretty sure they thought I was having a great time. Guess I'm good at faking it so I didn't hurt any feelings.

I've made some pretty great new friends- even though I go home on weekends. Rylee's roommates are way fun to hang out with. It's a big change from her roommates last year who didn't like us so much. I've met some good friends in my classes too even if they are guys who just happen to all be from Brigham City. I'm definitely the outsider which they like to point out a lot. Obviously in a joking way otherwise I wouldn't call them my friends. But they're funny and definitely very helpful when it comes to doing homework :)

I'm still on search of a job. No luck yet. I don't want to go back to donating plasma but it's looking more and more like my best option. If I still don't have a job when lawn mowing finally ends then I'll have to donate to keep a flow of cash coming in. I really can't wait until I'm done with school and will have an actual job. Then I might actually be able to enjoy having money instead of watching it disappear towards tuition or books as soon as I get it.

Mmk, I think that's a good summary of what I've been up to lately. I don't want to go on too long and bore any who might actually read this.. :)

Life is Good

Sorry it's been a while since I've posted. The first couple weeks of school are always weird for me. I feel like I'm in between two different worlds and it puts me in an awkward mood. I finally get so used to being home and have made so many great friends and love life and then all of a sudden I have to pick up and move back to another place.

It is always hard for me to move back up to school. Not even just because I'm leaving people I love behind, but because every new year is different. I always have in mind what it was like the year before. Memories come flooding back- good or bad- making you think things might pick up where they left off. But that doesn't happen. I have to realize how much I changed over the summer which means everything else may have too.
Then after two weeks have gone by, I finally adjust back to life in Logan. I accept the changes. I meet new people. I make the best out of life that I can and love it.

Life is good.

and so it begins..

One of my favorite things to do is people watch. People are so interesting and can make great entertainment. It is the best walking around campus because you can easily spot out the freshmen. There are the ones holding up maps, looking confused, and speed walking to wherever they are going. There are the ones who wear their game day shirt because they are stoked to be an Aggie. There are the girls who are all dressed up thinking they are the hottest thing on campus and are super excited about being at college where there are so many older boys to meet. There are the guys, who may or may not be freshmen, that are scouting out all the new cute little girls that are now available to date. There are those who don't even look old enough to be at college. There are so many other descriptions but I think you get the idea now..
I had some breaks in between my classes and spent some time alone on the quad and had time to watch the people around me. My first realization was that I was the ONLY one alone.. everyone else was a couple. Stupid couples. Don't get me wrong. I'm happy for them. They've found someone to be with that loves them. I love being single right now and am enjoying every minute of it but it still isn't fun seeing all these lovey dovey couples around me. Anyways, after I got past being alone, I enjoyed watching the people around me picking out those few I described above.

So normally besides walking around campus I love going to all the social events the first week of school. That is when people watching really takes it up a notch because you see all these flirty people. But this year I have yet to spend an evening in Logan. I was home Monday night before finally moving up here at like 9. Last night I went to the John Mayer concert which was SOOO good and a lot of fun to be with my friends. There was actually a couple there that created some major enjoyable people watching moments.. all you have to do is picture a girl taller and bigger than a boy getting all close and almost doing the dirty.. yeah.. the best part was to see peoples faces as they saw the couple.. hahaha anyways..
Tonight I went home once again because a best friend of mine was opening her mission call. I have been friends with Ellen since I can remember. I am glad to be able to say we have stayed friends all this time. It was funny to be there hearing her be called as a missionary to Argentina when I had flashbacks of when we were 5 doing all the crazy things we would do. It's crazy how time flies. I'm so happy for her though! She is such a great example to me. Seeing how happy she is about a mission really makes me consider one. But we'll get to that when the time comes. I still have a couple months to really think about it..

Mmk, I better end this post so I can start thinking about school. I haven't really had time to switch my mind to school mode yet and tomorrow is going to be a LONG day of classes and meetings. I'm not looking forward to it. Maybe if I was better prepared for class and had my books..
I may just have to leave that to worry about next week when things calm down a bit..

I'm such a bad procrastinator..

Quentin Brent Nelson

Q was born Monday the 30th around 4:30 weighing 8 pounds 3 ounces and 21 inches long. I stayed home, missing my first day back at school, to be able to see him before I had to be in Logan for a week. I actually almost wasn't allowed to go see him due to a very high heart rate, but the little guy must've known I wanted to see him badly because he recovered a whole lot faster than they expected allowing me to be able to quickly go see him :). So I was the only family member beside the grandparents that got to see him the day of his birth. I'm pretty special :)

Isn't he the cutest thing ever?!
I can't wait until Friday when I get to go home and actually HOLD him!
